Thank you Sharon. It is near the Mississippi River, and is often bustling, and full of people and activity. This day, as the rain began, it was, indeed, peaceful!

Artist's Description

Dutch Alley is another location that I hold dear to my heart. When I first moved to New Orleans, the French Market was all open air, and there was a gravel road/ parking area behind it. When my friend Diana and I drove here, we parked there, and used it as a place to meet if we became separated. Wed buy pastries from the marvelous French bakery across the street, or coffee and beignets from Morning Call, or French bread and flavorful cheeses from the A & P, and head up to the riverbank to enjoy.

Mask maker Mike (Stark) and Carol from the French Market Corporation, started the annual Mardi Gras Mask Market in Dutch Alley, (which I sold feather creations in), and the location seemed magical! There are se...

About Beverly Boulet

Beverly Boulet

Louisiana born artist Beverly Boulet began art studies at age four, and, luckily, had art classes all through elementary and high school, plus Summer art camps. She studied fashion design at West Virginia University, and continued her art education with workshops by noted portrait artists, including John Howard Sanden, Daniel Greene, and Foster Caddell. Ms. Boulet began painting murals and portraits in the early 1970s at the Maryland and New Jersey beaches, and continued to do so upon returning to New Orleans in 1980. She has painted, literally, thousands of portraits in water media, pastel, and oils, which grace public and private collections internationally. She has, also, exhibited and garnered awards in group and juried shows,...
