Dutch Alley is another location that I hold dear to my heart. When I first moved to New Orleans, the French Market was all open air, and there was a gravel road/ parking area behind it. When my friend Diana and I drove here, we parked there, and used it as a place to meet if we became separated. We�d buy pastries from the marvelous French bakery across the street, or coffee and beignets from Morning Call, or French bread and flavorful cheeses from the A & P, and head up to the riverbank to enjoy.
I left and returned to find so much had changed. The market was now enclosed stores, and you couldn�t park, or even drive, on my little road. It was now called Dutch Alley (perhaps after mayor Earnest �Dutch� Morial), and had its own brand of charm.

Louisiana born artist Beverly Boulet began art studies at age four, and, luckily, had art classes all through elementary and high school, plus Summer art camps. She studied fashion design at West Virginia University, and continued her art education with workshops by noted portrait artists, including John Howard Sanden, Daniel Greene, and Foster Caddell. Ms. Boulet began painting murals and portraits in the early 1970�s at the Maryland and New Jersey beaches, and continued to do so upon returning to New Orleans in 1980. She has painted, literally, thousands of portraits in water media, pastel, and oils, which grace public and private collections internationally.
