This is a painting of a New Orleans musician from a photo taken in Italy at the Umbria Jazz Festival!
The late Milton Baptiste not only led a brass band, but recorded many other New Orleans musicians in his studio.
This is one of the few paintings I had high enough not to be destroyed by the hurricane.
It was packed away while we renovated, and I've just "refound" it.
Louisiana born artist Beverly Boulet began art studies at age four, and, luckily, had art classes all through elementary and high school, plus Summer art camps. She studied fashion design at West Virginia University, and continued her art education with workshops by noted portrait artists, including John Howard Sanden, Daniel Greene, and Foster Caddell. Ms. Boulet began painting murals and portraits in the early 1970�s at the Maryland and New Jersey beaches, and continued to do so upon returning to New Orleans in 1980. She has painted, literally, thousands of portraits in water media, pastel, and oils, which grace public and private collections internationally.
